Cork

Application of cork in rugs was developed in partnership with Corticeira Amorim - world leader in the cork industry - whose activity is key f to ensuring the sustainable management of cork oak areas and the implementation of good environmental and social practices.

The cork’s properties increase the performance of rugs given that they benefit from the unique characteristics of this noble raw material, of which we highlight:

Lightness

Cork is very light because over 50% of its volume is air.

Impermeability

The cork cellular structure prevents water absorption and reaching only its surface.

Resistance/Durability

Upon impact cork cell walls are deformed absorbing energy without damaging cellular structure.

Thermal and acoustic insulator

Cork has a low conductivity of heat, sound and vibration.

Smouldering

Cork does not produce flame nor release toxic gases and its slow combustion makes it a natural fire retardant.

Minimizes allergy risks

Cork does not absorb dust and avoids mites contributing to the reduction of allergy risks.

Soft touch

The temperature being very similar to that of the human body, it gives a feeling of comfort and softness.
